The collection from Maison Margiela (Instagram) and Gentle Monster (Instagram) boasts 17 distinct designs, including temple-less frames and leather-wrapped masterpieces, all adorned with the iconic four white stitches emblematic of Maison Margiela’s avant-garde aesthetic.
Captured by Jordan Hemingway, the campaign transports viewers into a hyper-realistic dreamscape inspired by the Maison Margiela Co-Ed Spring-Summer 2024 Collection.
Exploring the intersection of futurism and tradition, the collaboration delves into the essence of self-expression through fashion. Crafted under the visionary direction of John Galliano, the collection features sunglasses and spectacles in signature colorways and leather accents, embodying a fusion of past and future. A futuristic, organic approach takes shape in the voluminous, metallic, mask-like pieces many of which are molded to wrap around the wearer’s eyes and nose. The temple-less MM101 and MM102 will be presented in silver Glam Slam eyewear cases and other frames will be accompanied by white cases.
Launching on March 7th, the genderless line will debut alongside five immersive pop-up spaces in Korea, China, the US and Japan. Within these spaces will be avant-garde installations that blur the lines between human and machine, echoing the ethos of both Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela. A unique performance, featuring a robot and a human, will skillfully blur the boundary between the two beings through nuanced gestures, imbuing the show with a captivating sense of emotion, the Houses revealed in a statement.
