After a three year hiatus, leading cultural festival Sole DXB is set to return in December for its 10th anniversary. Set to run from December 9 to 11, the event will take place at purpose-built site at Dubai Design District (D3).
Sole DXB highlights a different subculture for each of its editions, and this year the event will celebrate Arab excellency, both at home and abroad. As an extra flex, the organisers have stepped things up for event 10, partnering with the legendary Moroccan visual artist Hassan Hajjaj to be the very first festival host.
During the summer, the Sole team travelled to Morocco to connect with and learn from creators and creatives, some of whom feature in Hajjaj’s iconic festival campaign in the historic Madinah of Marrakech. The campaign also features Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto, as well as vocalist Khadija El Warzazia. In true Sole fashion, the festival will shed light on the creative talents of musicians, designers, artists, and athletes from across the Arab world.
“This is a major milestone for us, having a decade under our belt. And we always knew the story would land right back where we started,” Joshua Cox, co-founder of Sole DXB said. “This year, we’ve had the honour of working alongside our friend, Hassan Hajjaj, an artist that has dedicated his life to building the culture and elevating the contributions of the Arab world to it.”
After 10 years in the industry, Sole DXB holds a place at the centre of culture and commerce in the region. Its genre-busting platform allows businesses to connect and converse with their audience. Those attending can expect a highly curated selection of sneakers and streetwear from global brands and contemporary giants from the region and beyond.
The event also includes the Sole Ball Above All Invitational, the region’s most competitive streetball tournament, and Sneaker Swap, allowing sneakerheads in the region to buy, sell and trade their most prized kicks.
