As far as luxury collaborations go, there are some that enter into a magical space where dreams come true. Givenchy has teamed up with Disney to release a limited-edition capsule collection of luxury ready to wear staples. The Wonder Gallery, as the capsule is aptly named, will feature some of Disney’s most iconic and beloved characters. After all, it is where the magic began.
The Wonder Gallery is designed by Matthew M. Williams and is a playful and personal homage to some of the designer’s favourite characters. The imaginary realm situated somewhere between Paris and Los Angeles features limited edition t-shirts and sweatshirts that boast classic Disney iconography and character silhouettes, with Givenchy signatures.
“Disney has always held a special place in my heart, as it has for so many across generations, countries and cultures,” said Matthew M. Williams, “As a boy from California and a father in Paris, Disney has always been a source of meaningful moments throughout my life. It’s a true honour to bring out two iconic brands together for this project.”
This celebration of the iconic legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios will include a collaboration with some of Disney’s most talented artists to produce designs that feature Disney’s most iconic characters. The Wonder Gallery will feature Disney’s heritage character Oswald, The Lucky Rabbit, who was a prominent feature in some of their short films during the 20s and 30s. Other characters in the collection include modern icons such as Bambi, Perdita, and Pongo from 101 Dalmatians, as well as Elsa and Olaf from Frozen, each in instantly recognizable silhouettes. The garments will be finished off with Givenchy’s 4G emblem and signature padlock as leitmotifs, which visually links the Parisian house to the iconic Magic Kingdom.
The first capsule from The Wonder Gallery collection is now available at Givenchy.com, with a second collection following, in mid-summer.
T-shirts will be priced at $520-$600, and long-sleeved hoodies at $790.
