Rooted in the archives of Burberry and the storied textile mills of Lochcarron and Donegal, the collection draws inspiration from time-honoured techniques and materials.
‘There’s a sense of craft in this collection. We began in the Burberry archive and the mills of Lochcarron and Donegal. I wanted to take a traditional approach to the fabrics and how each piece is made. Craftsmanship has always been at the heart of design,’ said Lee. ‘The collection itself is inspired by British and Irish wool and fabric, centred around protection and warmth. Burberry trenches are designed with texture in mind. Coats are at the core, shoes and bags are functional. These pieces are made for the outdoors.’
Coats take centre stage, symbolizing protection against the elements. From the iconic Burberry (Instagram) trench reimagined in moleskin, wool, and leather to wool and cashmere coats boasting a relaxed, double-breasted silhouette, each piece exudes warmth and style.
Field jackets exhibit intricate layering techniques, featuring tactile shearling, faux fur, and moleskin cotton blends. Fringing and hand-braided tassels add a touch of artisanal charm, while scarves undergo a transformation into patchwork shirts and needle-punched satin dresses, evoking a sense of rugged elegance.
The colour palette echoes the natural hues of the British landscape, with deep browns, greens, beiges, and custard cream shades dominating the scene.
Bags reflect functionality intertwined with sophistication, with soft structures and adaptable designs crafted from washed leather, tanned cotton, and quilted shearling. The famed Burberry Check lends an outdoor feel and favourites including the Knight and Rocking Horse bags return alongside the Zip and Motor bags.
The shoes are functional and tied to the outdoors, waterproofed with rubber soles. Equestrian-inspired straps detail Saddle, Stirrup, Stomp and relaxed Field boots, cut both high and low. The Scoot and Range styles blend protection and elegance: the toggle-fastening Range boots in quilted nylon, while the hiking-style Scoot boots feature padded mesh collars for comfort.
