Fashion’s New Appetite: Dressing Like Your Dinner

For the first time ever, fashion isn’t just dressing us, it’s feeding us. In 2025, runway vibes have taken a tasty turn. Food and style, once tastefully distant, are now inseparable besties, and the result? A feast for our eyes (and our wardrobes).

Fashion used to steer clear of culinary callouts, too casual, too…calorie-adjacent. But today, designers are diving headfirst into snackable motifs. Burgers are chic, cherries are diamonds, and banana earrings are suddenly essential summer accessories It’s whimsical. It’s bold. And it’s huge.

Just take a stroll through your feed: Loewe’s tomato bag has become the unofficial mascot of the season, Jacquemus is dangling bananas from your ears, and Balenciaga decided the chips bag deserved couture treatment. If you somehow missed the Bottega orange bag…were you even online?

This food-core wave isn’t just playful styling, it’s emotional dressing. Think of it as comfort food in fashion form. Industry voices frame it as a reset: a way to tap into lightness, humour, and optimism when everything else feels heavy. A strawberry earring or tomato tote isn’t just cute, it’s a micro-dose of joy, a little reminder that not everything has to be so serious.

The colour wheel is also being served à la carte. Earthy olive, mousse-like browns, deep wine reds, sorbet pinks, and zesty yellows are painting the season’s palette like a menu of moods. And online? Even aesthetics are snacking. Pinterest is reporting a massive appetite for fruit-coded vibes: “cherry energy” is trending sky-high, while the oddly addictive “pickle aesthetic” is quietly becoming a thing.
