Luxury watchmaker Hublot (Instagram) has once again teamed up with SORAI (Save Our Rhinos Africa and India) (Instagram), a conservation organization founded by former international cricketer Kevin Pietersen, to combat the rhino poaching crisis.

Their latest collaboration, the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve SORAI, is a 30-piece limited-edition watch and a symbol of commitment to wildlife conservation, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to support SORAI’s work.

The Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve SORAI marks the fourth partnership between Hublot and SORAI, continuing the shared mission of preserving rhino populations across Africa and India. With only 30 pieces available, this luxury watch is a rare fusion of Swiss craftsmanship and global responsibility. Hublot’s contribution from the sales of this watch directly funds vital conservation efforts, from anti-poaching education to the rescue of abandoned and injured rhinos.

Poaching, fuelled by illegal demand for rhino horn, continues to push this keystone species toward extinction. But through their partnership, Hublot and SORAI aim to make a real difference, supporting grassroots organizations like Care for Wild in South Africa, which rehabilitates orphaned rhinos and helps restore their populations.

This limited-edition timepiece is as aesthetically impactful as its cause. The 42mm case, crafted from micro-blasted and polished grey ceramic, mimics the rough, durable texture of rhino skin.

The limited edition watch comes with two straps: one in grey fabric and another in black rubber with grey and beige camouflage. This thoughtful design reflects the spirit of wilderness and adventure, while the watch itself serves as a call to action for conservation efforts. The watch is driven by the HUB6020 Manufacture calibre, a hand-wound, skeletonised tourbillon that offers an impressive five-day power reserve. Its design features an asymmetrical display, elegantly positioned between two sapphire crystals. The time is showcased at 3 o’clock, while the power reserve indicator sits subtly between 8 and 9 o’clock, creating a harmonious balance within the watch’s face.

“Donations from sales of these beautiful watches make a tangible difference to combating poaching, developing and implementing new technologies and raising awareness of the threat to this magnificent animal. I want everyone who buys this new watch to understand the power of their contribution and to know they did something to empower positive change,” said Pietersen.

Hublot’s motto, “United for Change,” resonates through this partnership, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges. Through the work of SORAI, supported by Hublot, rhino populations in Africa and India have seen encouraging improvements. For example, the number of Indian rhinos has grown from just 200 at the turn of the 20th century to 4,000 today, thanks to conservation programs.
