Art has always been a beacon of resilience and hope in times of turmoil. This season, Pictures for Purpose (Instagram) harnesses that spirit once again, uniting 39 globally celebrated photographers in a remarkable effort to support children affected by conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. With a mission rooted in storytelling and compassion, this fifth edition of the print sale fundraiser transforms creativity into tangible aid for those who need it most.
Among the illustrious contributors are iconic photographers like Susan Meiselas, Bharat Sikka, and Sarah van Rij. Joining them are artists deeply connected to the affected regions, such as Dean Majd, Mohamad Abdouni, and Nader Bahsoun. Their collective works form a visual tapestry of solidarity, inviting viewers to engage with the shared humanity of the stories depicted.

For โฌ129, collectors can acquire an unsigned print from this extraordinary lineup, printed on 22 x 32 cm paper by Amsterdamโs Fotolab. This open-edition sale runs from November 26 to December 10, with global shipping available. In a special gesture, several artists, many from Lebanon and Palestine, have chosen to donate 25% of the proceeds from their works to support their families and communities directly.

The proceeds will be channeled to two charities with a laser focus on childrenโs welfare: Taawon (Instagram) and Beit el Baraka (Instagram). Taawonโs NOOR Programme stands as a lifeline for children orphaned by the war in Gaza, addressing their physical, educational, and emotional needs through a holistic, 18-year support system. Over 35,000 children were orphaned in just one year in Gaza, a staggering reality that calls for immediate action. Meanwhile, Beit el Barakaโs Forsa Programme is dedicated to safeguarding education in Lebanon, ensuring over 28,000 students can access schooling despite the countryโs compounded crises. These initiatives aim to restore a sense of hope, opportunity, and stability to young lives devastated by war and hardship.

Founded in 2020 by Isabella van Marle, Kunna Haan, Tijn Benedek, and Raisa Kingma, Pictures for Purpose has established itself as a force for good, using photography to amplify humanitarian causes. From supporting the Dutch Food Bank to aiding victims of the Turkish-Syrian earthquake and the war in Ukraine, the organization continues to demonstrate how art can transcend borders and inspire action.
This yearโs edition arrives as a poignant reminder of artโs capacity to shine a light on the most pressing global issues. Itโs a rare opportunity to own a piece of meaningful art while contributing to the futures of children whose lives hang in the balance.
