Luxury timepieces took center stage in Abu Dhabi as Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons (Instagram), a premier name in luxury watch retail, debuted the Mavericks of Time exhibition. This first-of-its-kind event, held on November 2-3 at Space42 Arena, celebrated Swiss independent watchmaking with an immersive experience that left watch enthusiasts and new fans alike spellbound. Designed to inspire and engage, the exhibition featured 15 of the world’s top independent watch brands, combining artistry, tradition, and cutting-edge innovation.
This stunning exhibition will now move to Dubai’s Museum of the Future from November 8-10.
Curated by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Mavericks of Time offered a unique exploration of the art and science behind luxury timepieces. For Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, CEO of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the event was a celebration of independent watchmakers’ mastery. He noted, “’Mavericks of Time’ is a new concept that celebrates independent watchmakers who are masters of their craft, design, and technology driving today’s high-end horology. With this first-of-its-kind concept, we curated an immersive environment where visitors had the opportunity to interact with brands in a dynamic, hands-on manner, transcending luxury experiences in the capital Abu Dhabi.”
Aimed at enthusiastic, curious audiences, the exhibition highlighted 15 iconic brands, including Bovet, Chronoswiss, De Bethune, Gerald Charles, Girard-Perregaux, Greubel Forsey, H. Moser & Cie., HYT, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F, Ressence, Speake Marin, URWERK, Ulysse Nardin and Vyntage Horology. Visitors journeyed through time in a “time capsule experience,” discovering themed eras that celebrated both the history and future of watchmaking.
According to Noura Al Foulathi, Head of Abu Dhabi Retail at ADIO, this partnership emphasizes the city’s growth as a hub for luxury and innovation. “Celebrating high-end craftsmanship is a key aspect of our vision to promote Abu Dhabi as a luxury hub, and ‘Mavericks of Time’ exemplifies this commitment. By partnering with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, we are pleased to offer an extraordinary platform for Swiss watchmakers to showcase their artistry and vision,” she said.
“Mavericks of Time” not only presented high-end watchmaking to new audiences, but also fostered a dialogue about the future of horology, attracting both aficionados and new enthusiasts. The exhibition’s open-access model, with free entry upon registration, ensured that everyone could experience the world of luxury watchmaking firsthand.
For anyone intrigued by the intricate beauty of luxury watches and the innovation propelling them forward, “Mavericks of Time” offers a glimpse into a world where tradition and the future coexist harmoniously.
