For their latest collab, the Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster has once again teamed up with Hood By Air. The latest eyewear collection is inspired by the streets of New York, and the untamed independence that rules in those parts of the city.
The collection features two bold designs, the Antagonist, and Mother. The two silhouettes come in futuristic shapes which have been combined with sporty and aerodynamic accents, giving these pieces an elevated form and function.
Channelling the fierce nature of the Big Apple, the streetwear brands have reunited to create voluminous, and geometric shaped eyewear. The first in the collection, the Antagonist is a goggle-style sunglasses that come in four colourways – black, red, pink, and white – featuring grey, brown and red mirrored lenses, which offer 99.9% UV protection. The sleek, flattened bridge of the rims resembles that of a motorcycle frame, while the embossed metallic logo accents serve to maintain the identity of the two brands.
The second piece in the collection is the Mother. A squared silhouette covered in black acetate and finished off with gold braided accents on the temple, finished off with orange UV- protected mirrored lenses. The lens on this pair is the same as the one used on the Antagonist and has a UV protection of 99.9%. This edition is exclusive to US consumers only.
The collab’s lookbook was given an imaginative twist by New York collective Torso Solutions. The packaging for this collection mirrors the high energy morning commutes of New York City. This can be seen by the visor shaped case, which features mutual branding.
