For her debut FW 2023 menswear collection, Sylvia Venturini Fendi intended to bring a touch of fun to her namesake brand. The latest collection was relaxed and more than a little playful and is sure to leave you feeling fantastic be it day or night. This fun-filled collection was also clearly personal for the designer and deeply sophisticated.
Fendi FW 2023 Men’s was cosy, sexy, and cool and provided the ultimate study of sophisticated comfort, everyday opulence, and the elegance of the unexpected. House codes are twisted to create new gestures of plush textures and patinas. Lines are blurred between tough and traditional silhouettes with a new soignee allure, through Venturini’s exploration of the decadence of the city and lights that sparkle after dark. The collection was infused with geometry and movement through volume and asymmetry that revealed layers of craftsmanship and flashes of skin. Trompe-l’oeil was achieved through the use of fleeces and sprayed shearling that presented a dynamic twist to garments that are usually solid to the eye.
Sheer knitwear exposed bare chests underneath, while shoulders were left open on multiple singlets. The collection was made up of a harmonious balance between masculine and feminine, seen through the capes that wrapped around the body, while models held bags under their arms and dragged scarves across the floor.
The collection blended a sense of fun with sartorial norms. The latest iteration of Fendi’s famous cult baguette bag was one such example. The Italian fashion house presented literal baguette bags, created from shearling, and shaped like baguette bread. The bag also underwent another playful reconstruction as it appeared as a cross-body umbrella holder. Accessories continued with the evolution of the Peekaboo with its bold metallic strap hardware, sprayed shearling, and harness detailing.
Footwear was made up of a slotted F logo heel featured on chiselled Cuban heel boots, while Fendi Frame moccasins and lace-up derbies were accompanied by Fendi Flow sneakers crafted with mesh, and transparent detailing.
Delfina Delettrez Fendi’s jewellery interpreted the Fendi Shadow, in chains, engraved cuffs and squared pendants. Pendant earing and graphic chain necklaces were created with interlocked F motifs, while the new, round wristwatch featuring a double dial was adorned with an O’Lock device.
