For Lebanese designer Elie Saab, bridal has never simply been another category. It is where the story began.
Now, as part of the upcoming ELIE SAAB H&M collection, Saab is returning to those origins with a special bridal gown and veil, translating one of the house’s most defining traditions into a limited-edition piece created for a new audience.
“Bridal is where everything began, the moment where the language of ELIE SAAB found its voice,” says Saab, the maison’s Chairman and Chief Creative Officer. “Our foundations are creating dresses for the most important day in a woman’s life, and that connection has remained deeply personal.”
The gown carries many of the signatures associated with the Lebanese couturier’s work: drama, intricate construction and an emphasis on femininity.
Cut in a sculpted mermaid silhouette, the dress features layers of fabric falling into a long train, balanced by a twisted off-the-shoulder neckline. A corseted structure shapes the body, while the back introduces a more delicate element through a sheer mesh panel embroidered with glass beads and sequins.
The accompanying floor-length veil pushes the bridal language further, crafted from mesh and covered with hand-embroidered floral motifs finished with tonal beads and sequins.
It is unmistakably ELIE SAAB, but positioned within a collaboration intended to make that aesthetic accessible beyond the traditional world of couture.
“To be able, through this collection, to offer a bridal piece at a different price point is something meaningful,” Saab says. “It allows a wider audience of future brides to experience our world on their own terms.”
For H&M, the bridal look also marks one of the most symbolic pieces within the collaboration.
“We were all very moved to see Mr Saab working on it in the studio, and the final garment is stunning,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson of H&M. “I know it will complete some of our customers’ wedding days, having this landmark item to wear.”
The release reflects a wider shift in the way luxury and collaboration intersect. Rather than simply borrowing a recognisable logo or visual code, the bridal gown reaches into the history of the ELIE SAAB house itself.
Saab built his name around occasion dressing and an approach to gowns defined by detailed craftsmanship, embellishment and fantasy. Bridal became one of the clearest expressions of that language, making its inclusion in the H&M collection particularly significant.
The result is conceived not as a disposable collaboration piece but as something to keep. The house describes the gown and veil as collector’s items intended to be worn, treasured and passed through moments that carry personal meaning.
That sense of longevity feels especially relevant for a wedding dress. Fashion collaborations are typically defined by speed and scarcity, while bridal belongs to an entirely different emotional register. A wedding gown can become an object of memory long after the occasion itself has passed.
By bringing the two worlds together, Saab is offering a version of his bridal universe that exists outside couture without abandoning the codes that made it recognisable.
The ELIE SAAB H&M collection launches on 22 October 2026, with the highly limited bridal gown and veil available in select stores in Dubai, Paris and New York, as well as online.
For Saab, however, the importance of the piece ultimately circles back to where everything started: a dress created for one of the most personal moments in a woman’s life.
This time, more brides will have the chance to wear one.
