Zegna has for a long time held its own in the industry. The brand is known for its luxurious textiles, fabrics, and fibres. It is also known for its craft, and in that regard, Alessandro Sartori’s Zegna triumphed. In Zegna Winter 2023, the luxury house brought stunning textures to the fore and reaffirmed its standing.
Oasi Zegna, a nature reserve in Northern Italy created by the brand’s founder, is the representation of a quest for beauty and excellence that is captured here in Oasi Cashmere. Named after the nature reserve, the cashmere is the ultimate expression of sartorial excellence. The luxurious fabric is central to the brand’s Road to Traceability, and the house has committed to certifying its fibres as fully traceable as soon as 2024.
The Zegna Winter 2023 show invited guests to experience the most crucial phase in the production of Oasi Cashmere fabrics, as fibres float and precipitate in an air chamber – a key stage in their eventual transformation into fine cloth.
“At Zegna, I have the unprecedented opportunity to create fabric from weaving through to finishing, challenging our manufacturers, pushing them to explore uncharted waters,” Sartori said. “This allows me to mould our silhouettes right from the matter, making sure that our commitment to innovation and excellence is rooted in every step of the process. The result is an all-encompassing language that is truly progressive.”
Harnessing the power of natural materials, the fashion house put functional fabrics at the fore, piecing together three-dimensional designs, architectural structures, and layering, all working together in harmony. The innovation was staggering. Coats, jackets, and blazers were crafted from camel-toned wool, cashmere and premium leather, jerseys are felt-like, and felt, itself, is rendered as if a malleable jersey.
The collection also featured granite-effect materials from #UseTheExisting sources. Alpaca, cotton-blend corduroy, and tactile wool-twill were all used to craft the collection.
A rather muted palette was accented by vivid hues. Serene grey met Aurora Yellow, foliage Brown was dashed with Bacca Red and Wine Red.
