Glenn Martens (Instagram), the creative mastermind behind Diesel, emphasised, “This season, we’ve thrown open the doors to Diesel, offering an unfiltered glimpse into our creative process. Diesel stands for fashion democracy, and it’s only natural that we unveil what’s usually concealed.”
The groundbreaking event commenced with over 72 hours of unprecedented access to behind-the-scenes preparations, streamed live from five different angles. From the final touches in the atelier to model fittings and casting sessions, viewers worldwide were invited into the inner sanctum of Diesel’s creative hub. This immersive experience culminated in a one-of-a-kind runway presentation, where the set transformed into a live video call with 1,000 members of the public, granting them exclusive front-row access.
The collection itself echoed the theme of revelation and transformation, with each garment embodying a sense of hidden layers waiting to be discovered. Denim, a staple of Diesel’s identity, took centre stage in avant-garde forms, from distressed denim coats revealing unexpected layers to multi-layered denim jeans challenging conventional perceptions. Distressed jersey devoré shirts and burnt-out tanks evoke the sensation of body heat permeating the fabric. Mini skirts made a statement, sometimes in abbreviated forms, while other times completely absent, showcasing Diesel’s signature blend of effortless cool and sex appeal.
Innovative techniques abound, with knit leopard print dresses creating a trompe l’oeil effect of worn denim and thick knits forming extreme coats and accessories. Tufted faux fur detailing forms an exploded DIESEL logo, adding a bold accent throughout the collection. Meanwhile, jersey tops adorned with blown-out knit prints and multi-layered miniskirts offer versatility, while screenshots of Diesel livestreams infuse a contemporary edge.
