It’s that time of the year again when Lyst publishes its annual Year in Fashion report. It’s that time of the year when everyone is talking about what fashion brands have done for the year.
Lyst has placed Miu Miu in the top spot in the Brand of the Year category. The brand has grown in popularity in recent years, with moments that made their way to viral status. Miu Miu’s revival of menswear stole FW/22 fashion week, while its viral sawed-off mini pleated skirt made its way to several magazine covers, while also inspiring trends across a few brands. Data for the year shows that these viral moments have led to a 49 per cent increase in Miu Miu’s searches on Lyst’s Year on Year.
Diesel, under the direction of Glen Martins, has also proved to be a resurgent brand, taking the Logo of the Year title, and making its way into Lyst’s hottest brands of the year in April. The brand 1DR bag is also a large contributor to Diesel’s renewed status and adoration.
With collaborations finding their way into the most storied brands, it may seem a difficult task to rate the best collab of the year. Lyst has rated the Jacquemus x Nike collab as the hottest of the year with over 50,000 searches in the 24 hours that followed the collaboration announcement. When the collection did eventually release, searches on Lyst saw an increase of 55 per cent.
In shoe and accessories, it’s no surprise that Birkenstock has proved to be the most popular search. The resurgence proved to be larger than anyone could have expected, with a search increase of 594 per cent in the first half of the year. The brand Boston Clog won the shoe of the year due to its performance. JW Anderson’s 3d printed pigeon clutch which sold out proved to be high on the list of hottest accessories of the year.
