Even after his passing, Off-White founder Virgil Abloh continues to make headlines, having worked with numerous creatives to bring his vision to life, and the Italian luxury house’s latest collection is a testament to that. Abloh worked closely with legendary pro-skater Sal Barbier, merging their perspectives, and creating a pipe-ready collection for the modern-day multi-hyphenate.
The two creatives worked under one shared vision, to “take the best of the 1980s skate scene, improve it and make it relevant in the now.” In true Abloh fashion, the capsule collection came to life with a range of youthful apparel, the resulting collection bringing Barbier’s designs to Off-White’s signature emblems.
The brand’s classic arrow motif is entangled with a rattlesnake illustration in an all-grey colourway across the collection. The rattlesnake takes over the collection, featuring on the back of blue hoodies, T-shirts, sweaters, and a washed denim jacket in light blue. Chromatic stripes feature on top and wide-legged bottoms silhouettes, adding an unexpected pop of colour.
An Abloh collection would not be complete without accessories. In his time at Off-White and Louis Vuitton, the designer was known for bringing extra game to his accessory collections. For the capsule, the designer, along with Barbier, offered dark blue baseball caps that are branded with the mean-looking slithering snake symbol.
Rounding up the collection we find a pair of classic skate sneakers in black and white. The sneaker, like all other Off-White sneakers, is finished off with the Italian label pull tag and arrow motif, which has been given a touch-up with Barbier’s snake logo work. Like all sneakers from Off-White, the outer layer is crafted with a mix of leather and PVC, while its sole is made from rubber.
The Off-White c/0 Sal Barbier collection is available here. Pieces from the collection range between $335 and $940.
