Prada Fall 2024 Men’s Collection – Embracing Human Nature
This Is Yung

Blue office cubicles transformed a runway spectacle at the Prada (Instagram) Fall 2024 men’s show. Amid the mundane workplace setting, models donned colorful headwear resembling futuristic swim caps, signaling the inception of a collection named “Human Nature.” The dichotomy between business and the environment unfolded as swiveling office chairs graced a glass runway suspended above a serene landscape, accentuating the innate contrast between nature and city life, what has perhaps become ‘Human Nature’.

Inspired by the intangible essence of nature, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons showcased garments that echo the surrounding environments. Colorful headpieces and form-hugging trousers coexist with boxy suits, button-up shirts, and tonal ties, embodying the instinctive change people undergo between these opposing spheres. The collection’s hero, a waffle-textured headwear, introduces a vibrant palette, adapting to the varying natural rhythms.

Monotone turtlenecks harmonize with the headwear, while cardigans in bright lime and red layer over pastel-toned T-shirts, accompanied by vivid conductor hats. Balaclavas in yellow, black, and brown make sporadic appearances, complementing woolen peacoats, trenches, and overcoats in neutral tones. Oversized, jagged belts command attention, and leather bags accommodate full-size laptops for the work setting.

Prada’s “Human Nature” collection juxtaposes utilitarian elements with vibrant sandals, offering a campy twist to formal attire. Shiny dress shoes cater to the workroom aesthetic. The cyclical nature of fashion, akin to the changing seasons, inspires the collection’s reflective exploration. Miuccia Prada envisions the Prada Man navigating work in a suit, occasionally stepping out-of-office with curiosity for the environment, donning a colorful, scalp-gripping hat—a celebration of human nature.

“There is simple assertion, of a deep and essential human need to connect with the world around us. The seasonal rhythms of nature, the natural order, determine gestures within garments. These clothes in turn reflect and react to their surroundings, to these disparate and distinct environments, interior and exterior” said Prada in a statement. And there we have it. Work, or life beyond we exist in different spheres, yet the need to be ourselves exists across all of them.
