Founded by Zixiong Wei, in 2020, SCRY Lab is a pioneering footwear brand that continues to push the boundaries of footwear. The idea behind the brand is to look at footwear as a research object which aims to explore future possibilities in design and manufacturing. The brand works at the meeting point between art, design, technology, culture, and most importantly, innovation.
The shoes are inspired by the idea of Black Monoliths in space and, “explores the unknown of the universe, where the object transcends the boundaries of time and space and breaks the constraints of dimensions.”
For their 2022 offering SCRY created two new silhouettes, the Stela Basic and Stela Erosion. The uppers are constructed with sleek aerodynamic forms with 3D-printed soles. Honeycomb patterns and perforations feature across the soles and uppers while ripple patterns can be seen at the bottom. The Stela Basic sneaker features a smooth matte finish while the Erosion pairs come with a distorted finish throughout the shoe.
SCRY also offers its customer’s name customisation through a custom text option that is printed on the outside of every shoebox.
SCRY’s shoes are environmentally friendly, and designed via a Digital Embryo, which serves as the underlying structure of digital design and manufacture in the footwear industry. Data captured from the Digital Embryo allows the brand to utilize cutting-edge technologies to construct new-age-looking shoes that are gentler to the environment.
The latest Basic and Erosion sneakers are available on a made-to-order basis. The shoes range between $535 and $655 and have a delivery time of between 30 and 60 working days.
