In a skeletonised version, the Overseas collection will welcome the tourbillon, one of the most emblematic Haute Horlogerie complications.
Continuing in the travel spirit of the Overseas watch, the three-day power reserve is the perfect timekeeping companion on journeys. The watch presents itself in two versions, one in 18K 5N ink gold and the other in Grade 5 titanium. The later model will be the first time the Maison will create a watch designed entirely from titanium – from crown to bezel and bracelet to case.
The watch is designed in a such a way that the self-winding Manufacture Calibre 2160, which powers the timepiece, will be skeletonised entirely in a contemporary design while still displaying the attention to detail stemming from the authentic aesthetic that makes up the Maison’s “Anatomy of Beauty” theme of 2022.
The new skeletonised work carried out on the Calibre will reduce the weight of the movement by 20% while are the same time providing a complete rethink of the movement’s architecture. The curvature of the movement is a minimal 5.65mm thick, a serious feat in terms of design when considering what is required to integrate the tourbillon carriage.
To fit in the new calibre, watchmakers at the Vacheron Constantin also redesigned the regulating organ housed in the tourbillon carriage. The movement also features a unique balance spring, designed in-house and equipped with a Breguet overcoil.
Both watches will feature the Overseas collection-specific interchangeable strap system. The case and bracelet boast finely finished work. The bezel ring is circular satin-brushed on the 18K 5N pink gold version, while the Grade 5 titanium iteration has been sandblasted. The case and bracelet of each model are vertically satin-brushed with polished angles on the bracelet, in a shape inspired by Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese Cross emblem.
The timepieces will only be available at Vacheron Constantin Boutiques.
