At Geneva Watch Days 2025, Gérald Genta (Instagram) leaned into its founder’s instincts: make mechanics sing and design do the talking. The new Geneva Minute Repeater arrives as a poetic feat of acoustics, while the Gentissima Oursin 36 in Burgundy and Black Onyx deliver glamour with bite, two attitudes, one unmistakable Genta language.
Geneva Minute Repeater: Sound as Sculpture
The Geneva Minute Repeater distils Genta’s love of chiming watches into a fresh, cushioned silhouette that feels both architectural and effortless. In 40mm yellow gold with a lustrous black onyx dial, the case stands just 9.60mm high, pared back to amplify the chime. Ultra-thin walls, a reduced sapphire crystal, stainless-steel gongs tuned by hand, and a trigger that mirrors the case line all serve one purpose: projection and purity of sound. Only 10 pieces will be produced per year.
Inside beats the hand-wound GG-002 calibre, developed in-house at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, finished with Côtes de Genève, hand-bevels and an octagonal inertia wheel – a quiet nod to Genta’s favourite form – delivering an 80-hour power reserve and a satisfyingly tactile bar-click wind. This is classic haute horlogerie, rendered with modern restraint and acoustic intent.
Gentissima Oursin 36: Burgundy & Black Onyx
Born from an encounter with a sea urchin, the pieces’ namesake, the Oursin’s bead-studded, convex form becomes a stage for contrast, texture and light. The two 36mm additions are designed to be worn, lived with and noticed. The Gentissima Oursin 36 Black Onyx pairs a glass-blasted 3N yellow-gold case set with 223 hand-screwed spiked beads and a black onyx dial beneath a faceted, octagon-profile crystal, edgy yet refined, with a rare, celestial gleam at every glance.
The Burgundy edition, inspired by the Tall Bearded Iris, shifts the mood: a 4N rose-gold case with a matte, velvety finish frames a brass dial hiding an octagonal guilloché; the deep burgundy tones echo the flower’s hues, with beads – designed to mimic dew – and strap to match for a quietly romantic glow.
Both models are powered by the GG-005 movement with Zenith Elite base with a revisited oscillating mass, 50-hour power reserve and 4 Hz frequency, pairing mechanical credibility with high-colour attitude.
