There are very few symbols in fashion that exist beyond the object itself. Chanel’s N°5 is one of them. More than a fragrance, it has become part of the visual language of the House: a number tied to Gabrielle Chanel’s instinct for modernity, precision, and reinvention. Now, in Collection N°5, that symbol is transformed once again, this time through fine jewellery.

Originally conceived to mark one hundred years of the legendary perfume, the collection reinterprets the iconography of N°5 through diamonds, gold, and architectural lines. At its centre sits the now-signature 55.55 necklace, set with a 55.55-carat diamond of exceptional purity, a piece so significant it has entered the House’s heritage collection.

But what makes Collection N°5 compelling is not simply its rarity. It is the way Chanel translates the visual identity of perfume into jewellery without losing the emotional weight attached to it. The curves of the number five become sculptural and graphic, both sensual and structured, while the articulated diamond drop references the movement of fragrance itself: fluid, luminous, and designed to sit against the skin.

The collection also draws a direct line back to Gabrielle Chanel’s 1932 “Bijoux de Diamants” collection, echoing the House’s longstanding relationship with diamonds as objects of movement rather than static decoration. Here, diamonds are framed through mirror-polished gold surfaces, bevelled edges, and closed settings that create a tension between softness and geometry.

Number five itself has always occupied a near-mythic place within the House. It was the fifth perfume bottle selected by Gabrielle Chanel, couture collections were historically presented on the fifth day of the fifth month, and even the 2.55 handbag carries the code within its name. For Chanel, five is not simply branding. It is instinct, ritual, and continuity.

That tension between legacy and modernity defines Collection N°5. The pieces feel clean, sharp, and contemporary, yet remain rooted in the codes that shaped the House from the beginning. Jewellery here becomes more than ornamentation. It becomes a way of wearing one of fashion’s most recognisable ideas.
