Titled “The Shape of Air,” the collection explores movement, weightlessness and the relationship between the body, fabric and the elements. Silhouettes are imagined as if caught by a breeze, with hems lifting, sleeves filling and openings appearing as garments shift gently around the body. The effect is one of effortless motion, where clothing never feels static.

That sense of lightness is supported by technical precision. Openwork knits appear almost immaterial, while leather is pushed into unexpectedly delicate territory. Fine strips are embroidered onto mesh to create a graphic lattice effect, its precision compared by the house to the intricacy of a Japanese stencil. It is a striking reminder that at Hermès, lightness is not necessarily simplicity, but the result of highly considered craftsmanship.

Functionality also becomes part of the collection’s language. Modular pieces are designed to adapt through cords, belts and zips, allowing their volumes and silhouettes to change. A silk column skirt in the Brise de Charme print unzips into sculptural draping, while wide-leg trousers open at the sides to expose and free the leg. Ultra-fine calfskin coats and jackets sit sharply on the shoulders with an almost paper-like crispness, while a silk pongee parka expands with the volume of a parachute.

There is freedom in these transformations. Clothes adjust rather than restrict, responding to heat, movement and the natural rhythm of summer. Hermès brings together versatility and sensuality without sacrificing the house’s characteristic restraint.
Colour follows the same atmospheric logic. The collection moves from the cool softness of bleu brume into the brighter intensity of orange sunset and jaune tournesol, tracing the changing light of a summer day. The palette captures that fleeting point when warmth, skin and air seem to merge.

Across SS27, Hermès makes the invisible visible.
Air becomes volume, movement becomes construction and craftsmanship becomes increasingly light to the eye, even when its execution is anything but simple.

The result is a collection that feels suspended between structure and freedom, grounded in technique yet constantly in motion.
As Hermès puts it simply: “The invisible becomes tangible.”
