The Middle East is a place abuzz with all sorts of entertainment offerings. It’s also the place most sports stars and musicians come to in their off-season. While there are concerts by plenty of the world’s most famous singers, the Arab world has some serious talent of its own. While some of them may be household names, there are a few who are redefining an era, with their own unique style. YUNG takes a look at some of the Arab talents making noise globally.
Nabil Harlow is an Algerian-French hairstylist turned musician who has just recently released his second single C’est pas vrai (It’s not true). This release comes shortly after Hotel Paris, Harlow’s first release. The artist first started out in music at the age of six, studying piano and joining Olivier-Messian later in his life.
Elyanna is a Palestinian-Chilean who had taken the world by storm after performing hits Ghareeb Aly, Ala Bali and Al Kawn Jaani Maak from her EP Elyanna 2. Growing up in Nazareth, along with her brother Feras, who also plays the piano and writes songs, Elyanna was brought up singing Arabic pop and English R&B music. Her single Ghareeb Aly has over 27 million views on YouTube at the time of writing this article.
Tawsen was born into a family with a mixed heritage of Moroccan, Italian and Belgian, with a passion for art and music, He isn’t afraid of being vulnerable with his listeners, which can be observed on any one of his three EP’s: Al Warda, Al Mawja, and Al Najma. The artist also has a mixtape called Nessun Dorma. Tawsin’s Babour, from his album Al Najma, which was released last year has garnered over 17 million views.
