Chloé (Instagram), the renowned fashion Maison, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Chemena Kamali as its Creative Director. With a strong connection to Chloé, Kamali’s return marks a significant moment for both her and the Maison.
Born in Germany in 1981, Chemena Kamali pursued her passion for fashion by completing a Master of Arts at Central Saint Martin’s University of the Arts in London, graduating with distinction in 2007 under the guidance of Professor Louise Wilson.
Kamali boasts over two decades of experience in the fashion industry, including a notable tenure at Chloé. She began her journey with the Maison as a part of Phoebe Philo’s team and later returned as the Design Director to Clare Waight Keller in 2013. In her most recent role, she served as the Women’s Ready to Wear Design Director for Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent.
Riccardo Bellini, President and CEO of Chloé, expressed his excitement about Kamali’s appointment, stating, “Chemena is both the Creative Director of Chloé and the embodiment of the Chloé spirit.” He eagerly anticipates Kamali’s vision coming to life, celebrating Chloé’s unique DNA.
Chemena Kamali herself shared her deep connection to Chloé, saying, “My heart has always been Chloé’s. It has been since I stepped through its doors more than 20 years ago. Returning feels natural and very personal. I am extremely honoured to be taking on this role and to be building on the vision that Gaby Aghion and Karl Lagerfeld defined early in the Maison’s history. Philippe Fortunato, CEO of Fashion and Accessories division at Richemont, emphasized the significance of Kamali’s return to the Maison, highlighting her passion for Chloé’s heritage.
Fashion enthusiasts can look forward to Kamali’s debut with her first pre-collection for Chloé in Paris in January 2024, followed by the Fall Winter 2024 collection during Paris Fashion Week in February 2024.
