Few fashion signatures have travelled quite like the Burberry trench. Now, as the British house celebrates its 170th anniversary, it is taking that familiar silhouette back to the streets with 170: The Anniversary Portraits, a campaign that puts personal style firmly in the picture.
Photographed by Jack Day, with an accompanying film by Hector Aponysus, the project brings together 170 people across London, New York, Seoul and Shanghai. From Lila Moss and Arlo Parks to Korean musician Crush and NBA star OG Anunoby, familiar faces appear alongside local creatives and members of Burberry’s own team. The idea? One wardrobe icon, endless ways to wear it.
Inspired by the house’s 2009 Art of the Trench project, the portraits showcase ten outerwear designs, from the classic Long Kensington Heritage Trench Coat and the Long Waterloo Heritage Trench Coat to burgundy leather, soft cashmere, check puffers and quilted layers. Each offers a different take on a British staple built for unpredictable weather.
At 170, Burberry proves that the most enduring pieces are the ones people make their own.
