February 18 and 19 saw a series of incredible events, including the presentation of a stunning range of the House’s high jewellery pieces, “Working with lines, volumes, colour palettes, inspiration from nature and world cultures… We explore so many territories to push the boundaries of creation and discover new horizons. Like a journey that is repeated over and over again, continually drawing on the inexhaustible sources of Cartier inspiration,” said Jacqueline Karachi, Director of High Jewellery Creation at Cartier.
The collection included a wide range of stunning pieces inspired by classic geometry and the natural world. From necklaces to watches and delicate earrings, the incredible display simply took the breath away.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi events were rounded out by the presentation of Cartier Art Dialogues, which was separated into two panel discussions: ‘Architecture, museums and space: from context to concept’, and ‘Architecture of cultural communities: the museum, bridging horizons’ under the theme “The Museum: A Modern Agora”.
The opening panel featured two world-renowned architects and the President-Director of the Louvre, Paris, and discussed the transformation of museums over this first quarter of the twenty-first century. Architects Elizabeth Diller and Hala Wardé and museum director Laurence des Cars, discussed the challenges for today’s museums in a fascinating coming together.
The second panel brought together four leading voices of the contemporary art scene, and examined the museum site and its role as a place of inspiration for artistic creativity. Film director and actress Nadine Labaki, choreographer, dancer and film director Blanca Li, and pluridisciplinary artists Subodh Gupta and Sophie Calle were in conversation with moderator Maisa Al Qassimi, Acting Project Director of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
