On February 11 and 12, Prada Mode (Instagram) made its highly anticipated return, this time transforming MiZa in Abu Dhabiโ€™s Mina Zayed into a striking contemporary cultural hub. Curated by renowned multidisciplinary artist Theaster Gates, the event explored the interplay of history and modernity, craftsmanship and technology, stillness and vibrancy. As an extension of Pradaโ€™s global cultural series, Prada Mode Abu Dhabi offered an unparalleled sensory experience, fusing art, music, and culinary excellence in a setting that celebrates the cityโ€™s creative dynamism.

At the heart of Prada Mode Abu Dhabi was an architectural masterpieceโ€”an immersive space designed around the concept of duality. A cylindrical structure at the centre divided the venue into two distinct realms. Inside, a tranquil setting was curated for contemplation, featuring acoustic performances that invited guests to slow down, reflect, and connect. The outer space, in contrast, was a vibrant arena of live music and DJ sets, creating an electrifying atmosphere of movement and sound.

The sonic experience was co-curated by Theaster Gates alongside NTS, the influential creative platform founded by Femi Adeyemi. This fusion of immersive soundscapes and architectural design offers visitors a unique contrast between introspection and celebration.

โ€œThis space is a reflection on the spiritual possibilities of quietude, the power of gathering, the contiguity between the aesthetic of the past and their relevance for the future, and reverence for Arab women,โ€ said Theaster Gates. โ€œAs we increasingly exist in a world where computer-generated possibilities govern our reality, my concept for Prada Mode Abu Dhabi is an homage to our interiority, the human hand, and our spiritual contributions to the rich cultural histories of this region. Iโ€™m honored to host Prada Mode Abu Dhabi, deepening my relationship with Prada as a cultural institution invested in global dialogue and creative excellence, and celebrating the artistic traditions and futures of Abu Dhabi.โ€

Prada Mode Abu Dhabi placed a strong emphasis on the voices and creativity of Arab women. Curated by cultural expert Myrna Ayad, the program featured live conversations, performances, and exhibitions that highlighted the artistic ingenuity and cultural narratives of the region. It was place of dynamic discussions that bridged tradition and contemporary perspectives, alongside performances that honoured the depth and richness of the Middle Eastโ€™s creative expression.

Beyond its artistic and musical elements, the event also celebrated the diverse diasporic influences that shape Abu Dhabiโ€™s culinary scene. Chef Salam Daqqaq crafted a menu that reflected the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the UAE, offering guests a taste of the cityโ€™s multifaceted identity.

For the first two days, Prada Mode Abu Dhabi operated as an invite-only members club, offering a private and intimate setting for guests to experience its unique programming.

Following this, on February 13โ€“14, the space will open to the public, allowing audiences to engage with this extraordinary cultural convergence.

Admission on public days is free but subject to availability, making it a must-attend event for those eager to experience the intersection of art, music, and heritage in one of Abu Dhabiโ€™s most vibrant creative spaces.
