Sisters by Choice, Style by Design

On the Scene

Not every love story is romantic. Sometimes, it’s about the girls who grow up alongside you.

At Dubai Fashion Week, YUNG caught Nafsika Skourti’s Resort 2027 runway show, where the designer presented Sisters by Choice, a collection celebrating friendship, individuality and the bonds we build over time.

On the runway, fluid silhouettes, playful styling and statement accessories brought the collection to life.

But behind the clothes was a surprisingly personal story. Inspired by the experience of growing up with a best friend, Skourti explored how friendships evolve.

When we’re younger, we look for people who mirror us. As we grow, we learn to appreciate the differences that make us individuals.

The collection celebrates shared memories, imagined worlds and carrying a little piece of one another into adulthood.

A fashion show about friendship? Consider this our love letter to the girls who feel like family.

Fashion, With a Side of Matcha

On the Scene

A fashion collection you can actually eat? We’re listening.

YUNG stopped by Bageri Form in Dubai Design District, where Copenhagen-based label Soulland transformed the café into a five-day fashion-meets-food experience.

Running from 22 to 26 October, the takeover celebrated Soulland’s Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, The Scavenger Hunt, with a limited-edition menu inspired by the brand’s designs.

Highlights included the KAI Flowerservice Matcha, topped with vanilla cold foam and an edible flower, alongside a chocolate-hazelnut pastry shaped like the label’s DELAWARE boots. Yes, edible footwear is apparently a thing now.

Visitors could also browse selected pieces from the collection, bringing a little Copenhagen cool to Dubai’s café scene.

Between the clothes, creative pastries and very Instagram-worthy matcha, it was a reminder that fashion doesn’t always have to stay on the runway.

Sometimes, it belongs on your coffee table.

Beyond the Badge, Beyond the Ordinary

On the Scene

Two Rolls-Royces, one very dramatic entrance.

YUNG headed to Cactus Park in Dubai’s Al Jaddaf for Beyond the Badge, an exclusive evening celebrating the legacy of one of the world’s most recognisable luxury carmakers.

Taking centre stage were the Spectre Series II and Black Badge Spectre Series II, bringing together two expressions of the brand’s signature craftsmanship and unmistakable presence.

The desert-inspired surroundings provided a striking backdrop, with illuminated Rolls-Royce branding, dramatic lighting and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy catching the spotlight.

The evening was designed to explore three distinct worlds of Rolls-Royce, with a programme featuring immersive experiences, live music and a culinary collaboration with Chef Izu and Sirene by GAIA.

From the sculptural details to the cars themselves, it was a celebration of luxury that went well beyond getting from A to B.

Because sometimes the journey really is the destination.

The Many Sides of Her

On the Scene

Who says you have to be the same person from morning to night?

YUNG stopped by Yassmin Saleh’s pop-up for a closer look at a collection inspired by the many versions of ourselves we become throughout the day.

Speaking about the designs, Saleh explained that her starting point wasn’t one particular story, but the woman herself. At home, at work or out with friends, she’s constantly adapting to the world around her.

That idea translates into sculptural details, considered construction and soft draping, reflecting the different moods, movements and emotions women experience.

The pop-up offered a chance to explore the pieces up close, but the message went beyond what was on the rails.

For Saleh, being a woman is about continuously evolving, rather than reaching some perfect final version of yourself. And really, isn’t that what personal style is all about?

Fifty Years and Still Blooming

On the Scene

Fifty years of beauty? Now that’s something worth celebrating.

YUNG joined L’Occitane en Provence at Nasab Pavilion in Al Barari to celebrate the French beauty house’s 50th anniversary, bringing a little Provençal sunshine to Dubai.

The evening was a feast for the senses, with vibrant floral displays, beautifully arranged treats and shelves of fragrances inviting guests to discover the brand’s nature-inspired beauty rituals.

Founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan, L’Occitane began with the simple distillation of rosemary, eventually turning ingredients like shea butter, almond and immortelle into beauty favourites recognised around the world.

The celebration honoured five decades of craftsmanship, sustainability and the little everyday rituals that make self-care feel special.

Between the fragrances, flowers and unmistakable French charm, it was a reminder that some things only get better with age.

And if fifty smells this good, we can’t wait for the next fifty.

Calvin Klein Keeps It Classic

On the Scene

Sometimes the best fashion statement is keeping things simple.

YUNG stopped by Calvin Klein’s newly opened Mall of the Emirates store, where the New York fashion house brought its signature minimalism to a fresh Dubai address.

Inside, clean lines and a pared-back palette let the clothes do the talking. Denim took centre stage, joined by women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, the brand’s iconic underwear, accessories and footwear. Think wardrobe staples you’ll reach for on repeat, rather than pieces destined to gather dust.

The opening had its own soundtrack, with a DJ setting the mood while guests explored the rails and got a closer look at the collection.

It’s another chapter for Calvin Klein in Dubai, proving that a simple white tee, a great pair of jeans and a little confidence can still make a serious statement.

Minimal effort? Maximum impact.

Wearable Works of Art

On the Scene

Some jewellery is made to accessorise. Vhernier’s is made to be admired.

YUNG stepped inside the Italian jewellery house’s newly reopened boutique at Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue, where jewellery meets architecture in a space inspired by Milanese elegance.

Think polished bronze, marble finishes and softly lit displays, all designed to let the pieces take centre stage. Among the highlights are Vhernier’s sculptural Abbraccio and Calla designs, alongside Freccia’s distinctive geometric forms.

The brand’s approach is refreshingly different. Rather than following traditional jewellery rules, it plays with volume, curves and unexpected materials. Gold, diamonds and flashes of colour become miniature works of art, while a private room offers a closer look at high jewellery creations.

Our favourite detail? How something so bold can still feel effortlessly understated.

Proof that the best jewellery doesn’t just complete an outfit. It starts a conversation.
