Elsa Schiaparelli, Musee des Arts Decoratifs
“Shocking! Les Mondes surrealists d’Elsa Schiaparelli” is an exhibition of 577 works that includes 212 silhouettes and accessories by Schiaparelli herself and is the first event on our things to do list. These works are displayed alongside iconic sculptures, jewellery, paintings, perfumes, and ceramics created by Schiaparelli’s closest friends and contemporaries including Man Ray, Salvador Dali, Elsa Triolet, Jean Cocteau, and Meret Oppenheim. For a full dose of fashion and everything to do with Elsa Schiaparelli, you could head over and have a fashion week away from Fashion Week.
LV Dream, 26 quai de la Megisserie 75001 Paris
LV Dream is a celebration of 160 years of Louis Vuitton’s creative exchanges that have helped forge the Maison’s spirit of innovation. The exhibition invites visitors on an immersive journey of discovery into the House’s historical and contemporary artistic collaborations. The exhibition consists of nine interactive rooms that offer a panorama of the original works.
Frida Khalo Beyond Appearances, Palais Galliera
This exhibition brings more than 200 objects from the Casa Azul to France for the first time. In collaboration with Museo Frida Khalo, items including clothes, accessories, correspondence, cosmetics, and medical items are put on display for the first time. The items were seized and placed under seal when the artist died in 1954 and were only discovered at some point in 2004.
Azzedine Alaia, Arthur Elgort. Freedom, Azzeddine Alaia Foundation
Opening on January 23, the exhibition is a dive into the collaboration between Azzedine Alaia and Arthur Elgort. While Alaia was dressing his women, and women across Paris copied his style, Elgort was moving through the city, turning Paris and everything within it into a setting for his photoshoots.
Gold by Yves Saint Laurent, Musee Yves Saint Laurent
Yves Saint Laurent had a special affinity for the shimmering colour of gold. ‘Gold’ is a celebration of the colour that marks much of the designer’s work. Gold played an important part in the designer’s collections, from the buttons on his pea coats to his infinitely gold dress. Yves Saint Laurent splashed the colour on everything, employing brocades, laces, lame, sequins and more.
