Some places announce themselves loudly. Lucy Lu has always preferred to make people look a little harder.

Born in Beirut’s Gemmayze neighbourhood, the speakeasy built its reputation around word of mouth, a discreet blue door and a warrior rabbit that became part of its identity. Now, the concept has arrived in Dubai, opening at 25 Jump Street, One Central and bringing its deliberately elusive character with it.

The address may be easy enough to find, everything beyond the door reveals itself more slowly.

Lucy Lu’s Beirut identity was shaped by the idea that the best nights are not necessarily the easiest to discover. Guests heard about the venue through friends, searched for the entrance and stepped through a blue door into a space that moved gradually from intimate dinner to something more energetic after dark.

Dubai does not change that philosophy.

Lucy Lu

“Lucy Lu was never meant to be found easily, and Dubai doesn’t change that,” says the team behind the concept. “The rabbit keeps watch. The door decides who comes in.”

Its new home, 25 Jump Street, Dubai’s first licensed dining strip, is the place to be, but Lucy Lu is positioning itself as something to uncover rather than simply visit.

Inside, deep maroon tones and dark wood set the mood, while the experience is designed to evolve as the evening unfolds.

Dinner begins with plates intended for sharing, accompanied by classic and house-twisted cocktails. Rather than treating food and drinks as separate parts of the evening, the menu is curated so that both work together as part of the wider experience.

Then the atmosphere shifts.

As dinner winds down, the lights dim, the music rises and a live DJ moves the space into its after-dark mode. It is a progression that feels central to the Lucy Lu identity: quiet at first, increasingly electric as the night goes on.

Then there is, of course, still the rabbit.

Along with the blue door, the warrior rabbit remains one of Lucy Lu’s defining visual signatures, carrying a piece of the Beirut original into its new Dubai setting. The concept retains the sense of secrecy that helped build its reputation, while translating it into a new city.

“25 Jump Street was built to be discovered,” say the team. “Lucy Lu was built to be uncovered.”

For a venue that made its name by refusing to give too much away, that may be the best introduction possible.
