Famed Italian brand, Bottega Veneta’s “The Square” series continues its cultural journey, with its latest chapter unfurling in Brazil. In the buzzing metropolis of São Paulo, at Lina Bo Bardi’s iconic Casa de Vidro, Bottega Veneta rolled out the latest installment of its cultural exchange series – “The Square São Paulo”, a powerful incarnation of the brand’s ethos—craft, creativity, and self-expression.
A successor to the brand’s original “Square” series, first brought to life in Dubai in 2022 and then Tokyo, “The Square São Paulo” has been meticulously curated under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy in collaboration with Mari Stockler. A distinct embodiment of Brazilian modernism, this unique iteration delves into the square form and verdant surroundings of Casa de Vidro, marking Bottega Veneta’s illustrious decade-long sojourn in Brazil.
This artistic cornucopia, running from May 27th through June 3rd, harnesses the vivacity and multifaceted talent of Brazilian artists in an homage to Italian-born Bo Bardi’s monumental impact on Brazilian culture. The carefully crafted 11-day program spans myriad artistic forms, reverberating with the creative energy that Bardi introduced to her adopted homeland.
Each journey through “The Square São Paulo” unfolds around four thematic pathways – time, geometry and spirituality, Brazilian counterculture, and the roots of Bossa Nova. These curated routes, commencing with an artist talk on the opening day, guide visitors through the iconic house and garden, illuminating the diverse artistic palette of Brazil.
Bardi’s considerable impact on Brazilian modernism, with the Casa de Vidro as a monument to her genius, pervades the event. Her indomitable spirit, embodied in her socially-conscious design and architecture, resonates through the Museu de Arte de São Paulo, SESC Pompéia, and the countless other contributions she made to the arts, including jewelry, costume, furniture, and set design.
As Bottega Veneta’s cultural exchange series expands its global footprint, “The Square São Paulo” stands as an expressive testament to its dedication to celebrating local cultures. BV Square, born in Dubai and now flourishing in Brazil, continues to foster artistic dialogue and curiosity.
