A first-of-its-kind architectural exhibition created entirely by children is running at Alserkal Avenue until June 10, 2025. Organized by Studio B.A.S Dubai (Beyond Architecture Studio), the showcase invites visitors into a world where imagination, architecture, and sustainability intersect, through the minds and hands of children aged 6 to 16.
Over the course of a year, students at Studio B.A.S explored architecture not through textbooks, but through experimentation. The result is a deeply personal and conceptually rich body of work—featuring models, installations, and drawings crafted from recycled materials including packaging cardboard, used cutlery, and old toys. These aren’t just crafts, they’re full-scale spatial ideas.
“This exhibition is not just a performance or a set of facades,” says Sofia Tkach, architect and founder of Studio B.A.S Dubai. “It’s a message. A memory. An atmosphere. The children show us that architecture isn’t just about building, it’s about feeling, remembering, and reimagining the world around us.”
The exhibition takes visitors on an interactive journey, spotlighting how design principles and spatial thinking can be made accessible and engaging for all ages. Underpinning the show is Studio B.A.S’s belief that creativity in youth is not only valid but essential, provided the right tools and environment are offered.
Nataliya Melnikova, producer of the exhibition and partner at Studio B.A.S, credits the UAE’s multicultural fabric as a source of creative fuel, saying, “The diversity here gives our students something rare—a space where many perspectives collide and where a broad view of art, identity, and culture is not just possible but inevitable.”
The B.A.S method blends architecture with a multidisciplinary curriculum that includes visual art, history, theatre, and ecology. Students are encouraged to think expansively—whether designing for the next neighbourhood, the next city, or a future beyond Earth.
The show is open to families, educators, creatives, and the general public. Entry is free, June 10: 11 AM – 5 PM.
At its core, this exhibition is about more than education or aesthetics—it’s a reimagining of what architecture can be when placed in the hands of the next generation.
